General Overview

Mark has recently joined our Property Group and is recognised as a leading lawyer in this area.  His practice areas include commercial property development, leasing and acquisitions and sales.  Recently he has completed several landmark projects in NSW and Canberra, acting for developers and landlords on the construction, and sale or leasing, of commercial office spaces and retail premises, as well as residential apartments.  

Mark has over 20 years experience in all aspects of real property law.  He provides client focused and commercially realistic legal advice, recognising the importance of providing solutions and adding value to his clients' businesses.

Relevant experience 

• Advising developers about all aspects of the acquisition of sites for commercial offices, retail premises and residential apartment projects
• Providing advice on construction contracts, development management agreements, joint ventures and tax effective structuring for development projects
• Drafting and negotiating contracts for sale of large and medium commercial and development sites in NSW and the ACT
• Advising property owners about the impact of recent changes to mandatory energy efficiency disclosure and consumer laws on the sale and leasing of real property

Achievements and major projects

• Key legal adviser to a national superannuation trustee on the $169,000,000 acquisition and development of     a     landmark     commercial office building in Canberra.   Mark was involved in all facets of the acquisition and construction of the project from the inception to completion
• Mark provided specialised advice on major tenancies and construction risks to the purchaser on the recent acquisition of the Birkenhead Shopping Centre for $174,000,000
• As Special Counsel at a national top tier firm, he recently acted as national coordinator of the commercial and retail leasing portfolios for Multiplex and Vodafone
• Mark recently completed the sale of over 70 residential and commercial lots in a mixed use strata development at St Peters, as well as advising a mortgagee in possession on the stratum subdivision and sale of a combined hotel, serviced apartments and residential apartments project in Wollongong
