Christina Byrne
General Overview
Christina is a Senior Associate in our Commercial Litigation practice. She has almost 10 years experience in assisting corporations, public bodies, associations, partnerships and individuals to resolve commercial disputes in a wide range of areas, including contract, corporations law, competition and consumer law, debt recovery and corporate and personal insolvency.
Christina has extensive litigation experience and regularly appears in almost all NSW Courts and tribunals as well as the Federal Court and Federal Magistrates Court. She also has a keen interest in alternative dispute resolution and often conducts mediations, arbitrations, and other formal and informal settlements to assist clients to find practical solutions to disputes.
In addition to her dispute resolution experience, Christina has also provided legal and commercial advice in a wide variety of areas including management of corporations, director’s duties, insolvency, debt recovery and risk management and has drafted tailored commercial agreements, contracts and other documents for ongoing use in a number of industries.
Christina has a personal interest in the area of Sports Law, particularly in relation to the resolution of sports-related disputes. She has provided legal representation and advice to a range of sportspeople, sporting organisations, sponsors, and service providers to the sports industry.

- Obtained judgment and successfully defended Appeal in action for damage to retail premises and loss of income
- Conducted actions for lender seeking repayment of multi-million dollar loan involving fraud by finance broker
- Acted for Sporting goods company in intellectual property dispute against state-based cricket team
- Advised and acted for Receiver and Manager in relation to administration and sale of wedding reception venue
- Advised and represented Liquidator in examinations and recovery of assets in collapse of significant building project
- Advised and acted for builder in relation to appointment of Receiver to developer of major hotel
- Drafted Deeds of Company Arrangement, Guarantees, Deeds of Charge and Mortgages to restructure chain of cafes and bistros
- Advised Administrator in relation to appointment to registered leagues club
- Drafted sponsorship and product endorsement contract for major sporting identity
- Advised and represented registered club in sponsorship dispute
- Advised and represented insolvency practitioner in relation to appointed to registered club
